What You Need to Know About the New & Updated 2021 BMW i3

“Experience the future at your fingertips” – that’s how the German manufacturer describes the new BMW i3. Packed with innovative technologies, the new BMW i3 is all set to elevate your everyday driving experience. The 2021 model has brought significant changes to the i3, including the increased use of eco-friendly materials for the components. There are two variants, including the base i3 and the sporty i3S. With a BMW charging station available almost everywhere, travelling in this compact, all-electric sedan should be fun.

Power & Performance:

The BMW i3 is fully electric, with its electric motor giving out a power of 135KW and 270Nm torque. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. Its lightweight design and robust performance combine to offer you a smooth ride every single time. The torque is delivered to the wheels instantaneously, thanks to its powerful motor and direct drive transmission.

EV Range & Charging:

The company promises a longer range with the new 2021 model. The EV comes with a 42KWh high-voltage battery, giving up to a 260 km range in a real world scenario. Now that’s plenty for cruising and exploring places around you!

A BMW i8 charger type can be used to top up the battery from a standard outlet. In about 3 hours, your vehicle can be charged up to 80% of its capacity at home. Fast charging is also possible when you recharge the vehicle from a 50kW charging station.

Infotainment & Comfort:

While several EVs feature big screens for infotainment, the 2021 BMW i3 takes a somewhat more straightforward approach. The i3 range comes equipped with BMW’s iDrive 6 infotainment system, allowing you to stay connected throughout the journey with ease. The system supports Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay, with which you can pair your smartphone for hands-free calling, navigation, and music streaming. BMW’s navigation system also gets you to your destination faster and shows if there is a nearby BMW charging station on your way.

As for comfort, the vehicle comes with a bevvy of features such as Advanced Vehicle & Key Memory (for climate control purposes), three-stage heated front seats, audio tone, radio presets, and more to make for a delightful journey. The vehicle has rear-hinged doors, with no B-pillar separating them so that you can enter and exit the vehicle with ease.

No Compromise on Safety:

On top of all the fundamental safety features, the i3’s LED headlights and acoustic pedestrian protection let you drive with confidence. The vehicle is super quiet to run, so it creates an external artificial engine noise to alert pedestrians nearby.

BMW’s Active Driving Assistant promotes safe driving with a multitude of driver-assist features such as forward collision warning, automatic pre-collision braking, and more.

If you switch to an EV for sustainability, the BMW i3 is an excellent investment in the long term. And don’t forget to get a BMW i8 fast charger after purchasing the vehicle!
