What is World EV Day?

World EV Day occurs annually as a worldwide event that serves as a catalyst for change, a celebration of electric mobility, and an opportunity to raise awareness about sustainable transportation. This year, we’re celebrating on Saturday 9th September. In recent years, there has been a remarkable surge in the number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the world’s roads, driving consumer demand for sustainable transport from corporations and car manufacturers to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles.

The global transition towards electric vehicles is an essential component of the larger movement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. The transportation sector is a major contributor to air pollution, with conventional unleaded petrol (gas) and diesel vehicles emitting harmful pollutants that have detrimental effects on both human health and the environment. EVs, powered by electricity stored in batteries, offer a cleaner and more sustainable alternative, even more so when powered by renewable energy such as solar power.

The first World EV Day was observed in 2020, and it has since grown into a global movement. This day serves as a platform to educate people about the importance of electric vehicles and to showcase their benefits. The rapid advancements in battery technology have allowed EVs to become more widespread and accessible. There have been substantial improvements over the years in battery energy density, charging speed and overall performance. These developments have resulted in EVs with longer ranges, faster charging times and enhanced durability. As battery costs continue to decline, the affordability of EVs is improving, making them a viable choice for an increasing number of individuals and businesses, whilst simultaneously improving the environment. EVSE Australia is offering those getting into home charging 10% off via the WORLDEVDAY code until September 15th.

World EV Day plays a crucial role in raising awareness about EVs and sustainable transportation. It encourages people to learn about the benefits of EVs, such as lower operating costs, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and the potential for renewable energy integration. By educating the public, we can inspire more individuals to make the switch to EVs and advocate for policies that promote their adoption.

The widespread adoption of EVs would not be possible without the expansion of charging infrastructure. Governments and private enterprises have increasingly been investing in EV charging networks, making it convenient for EV owners to publicly charge their vehicles. From residential chargers to fast-charging stations, the infrastructure is becoming more robust and accessible. In honour of World EV Day, EVSE is offering a special promotion by providing essential infrastructure for EV users. You can enjoy a 10% discount on most hardware by using the code ‘WORLDEVDAY’ at evse.com.au. This is an excellent opportunity to take a step towards sustainable transportation and invest in the future of clean mobility.
