Wellness Tourism Meets Sustainable EV Charging: Peninsula Hot Springs

Read about how Peninsula Hot Springs are making EV charging more accessible.

About Peninsula Hot Springs

Peninsula Hot Springs Ev Chargers

Situated on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, Peninsula Hot Springs has been an award-winning wellness and spa destination for over 20 years. More than just a spa, it’s a destination where people come to restore balance and find harmony among nature. Known for its unwavering commitment to renewability, sustainability, and environmental responsibility, the bathhouse continually seeks ways to align its services with the values of its eco-conscious clients.

As more visitors arrived in electric vehicles, it became clear that offering EV charging was not just a practical necessity, but also a natural extension of their commitment for caring for both people and the planet. “Demand for electric charging for vehicles is becoming a necessity” says Matthew Graydon, Peninsula Hot Springs’ Guest Service and Operations Director. Choosing EVSE felt like a continuation of that journey. “I saw EVSE … and was intrigued by the simplicity of it. What I really liked was that you could tailor the product to our needs.”

The Project

Mornington Peninsula Ev ChargingTo bring this vision to life, EVSE worked closely with Peninsula Hot Springs to design a charging solution that complemented the property’s unique environment. After a thorough consultation, three Ocular Dual Port Towers were recommended. “EVSE supported us through the process, providing on-the-ground locational assistance to ensure the chargers were integrated into the environment, keeping the business immersed in nature and sustainability,” notes Matthew. This guidance ensured the chargers were optimally placed to maintain the tranquil, natural surrounds of the bathhouse while making the transition to EV-ready effortless.

Peninsula Hot Springs opted for EVSE’ Charging as a Service (CaaS) financing. This allowed for a comprehensive end-to-end solution without any upfront capital. Hardware, software, installation, maintenance and driver support are all packaged in a predictable monthly payment structure. This also creates room to grow, with the option to easily scale charging capacity as more visitors arrive in EVs. “It’s a turnkey solution, generates revenue, easy to manage, easy to monitor, and make our guests satisfied.”

Driving Sustainability with Exploren

Through the Exploren platform, the team at Peninsula Hot Springs can monitor charger usage in real time, track performance, and better understand guest behaviour. “The features of the Exploren platform that I really enjoy are the ability to monitor usage, understand what’s happening in the business, and get a transparent view of demand, supply and revenue,” says Matthew. This visibility gives them the confidence to make data-driven decisions, while ensuring their services continue to evolve alongside guest needs.

“Sustainability is baked into everything we do. Renewability, sustainability, and environmental responsibility are our key words,” Matthew explains. The introduction of EV charging reflects not only their commitment to eco-conscious solutions but also their actions and impacts on society and the environment. By supporting cleaner transport, Peninsula Hot Springs are expanding their connection with nature beyond the spa experience, ensuring that every aspect of the guests visit aligns with their environmental values.

Looking Ahead

With EV charging now part of the Peninsula Hot Springs experience, the bathhouse is ready to welcome and support a growing base of electric vehicle drivers. As Matthew notes, the facility looks forward to expanding its charging capabilities as demand rises, maintaining its reputation as a leader in eco-conscious wellness tourism.
