Powering the Future of EV Charging in Shopping Centres

Westfield Kotara 8As Newcastle’s local government rolls out over 11 new public kerbside charging sites, Westfield Kotara is complementing the effort by expanding EV charging access within the community. The shopping centre’s latest installation ensures that visitors can conveniently charge their vehicles while they shop, supporting Newcastle’s growing demand for sustainable transport options.

The need for chargers became clear when the shopping centre recognised the limited access available to its EV-driving customers. This prompted the search for a reliable solution, one that led them to EVSE, a complete EV charging solutions provider.

Selecting the Right Infrastructure

Selecting the right infrastructure for Westfield Kotara was a critical decision to ensure maximum convenience and usage for visitors. After a thorough consultation with EVSE, the shopping centre chose two 60kW Ocular DC Dual Port Titans, enabling up to four vehicles to charge simultaneously. This setup allows visitors to charge at an impressive rate of up to 360km of range per hour.

Sustainability at the Core

A standout feature of this installation is its commitment to longevity and environmental responsibility, ensuring all Westfield Kotara customers can recharge their vehicle when needed. The modular design of the Ocular Charging hardware ensures that all components can be replaced over time, extending the lifespan of the chargers and reducing the need for complete unit replacements. Any replaced parts are sent to specialised e-waste recycling services, reinforcing EVSE’s dedication to reducing waste and supporting a circular economy.

Beyond meeting current charging needs, the infrastructure has been designed with scalability in mind. The system includes provisions to expand charging capabilities in the future, ensuring Westfield Kotara can accommodate the growing number of electric vehicles in the community without costly overhauls.

Driving Westfield Kotara’s Vision

EVSE Australia is proud to support Westfield Kotara in its transition to an electrified future. By delivering scalable, future-proof infrastructure, EVSE empowers the shopping centre to meet the growing demands of EV-driving customers, enhancing the visitors experience, and positioning itself as a leader in sustainability and innovation.
