Tasmania Electric Vehicle ChargeSmart Grants Program

The second Electric Vehicle ChargeSmart Grants Program is now open. Individual grants are available towards the cost of purchasing and installing electric vehicle chargers for public use, particularly in regional areas and key tourism destinations:

  • Grants of up to $2,500 for permanently-wired Alternating Current (AC) electric vehicle destination charging stations.
  • Grants of up to $50,000 for permanently-wired Direct Current (DC) electric vehicle fast charging stations.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting electric vehicle charging infrastructure, committing a further $600,000 to the second ChargeSmart Grants Program.

Applications close at 5.00 pm on Friday 10 September 2021.

The grants support installation of fast and destination charging stations in regional Tasmanian locations and key tourism destinations.

The rollout will help to promote Tasmania’s transition to a low-emissions economy. Tasmania is ideally suited to benefit from a growing electric vehicle market. When powered by our locally produced renewable energy, charging infrastructure has the potential to improve the efficiency of the State’s vehicle fleet, through reduced transport emissions and costs.

Launching ChargeSmart for a second time will improve the existing charging network and give Tasmania a competitive advantage as a preferred tourism destination for electric vehicle owners.

FAST CHARGING
Grants of up to $50,000 are now available for organisations towards the cost of purchasing and installing Direct Current (DC) electric vehicle fast charging stations. Fast chargers provide a high rate of charge and are installed where drivers need to recharge and get back on the road quickly. Fast Charging Grant Applications close at 5.00 pm on Friday 10 September 2021.

DESTINATION CHARGING
Grants of up to $2,500 are now available for organisations towards the cost of purchasing and installing Alternating Current (AC) electric vehicle destination charging stations. Destination chargers are useful for locations where electric vehicle drivers stay for an hour or more, such as shopping centres, hotels, caravan parks, public car parks, restaurants and tourist attractions.

Destination Charging Grant Applications close at
5.00 pm on Friday 10 September 2021.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Both grants programs are open to Tasmanian organisations that have a publicly available location for a charger. Eligible organisations include local government, for-profit and not-for-profit
organisations, and Tasmanian Government Agencies, Government Business Enterprises and State-owned Companies.

HOW DO I APPLY?
