TIMOTHEE RESORT

EVSE Australia has partnered with the newly refurbished Timothee Resort in Busselton, Western Australia, to integrate electric vehicle charging into their upgraded offering. Seeking to reduce their environmental footprint, the boutique resort chose EVSE for their strong infrastructure and competitive pricing.

With the support of the WA Charge Up grant, Timothee Resort selected EVSE as their preferred charging partner. A tailored approach was essential, so the EVSE team conducted a thorough assessment of the resort’s electrical infrastructure and solar capabilities. They then provided a customised solution that maximised the number of chargers without overwhelming the power supply.

The installation of an Ocular Dual Tower by EVSE allows two vehicles to charge simultaneously, making it an ideal choice for eco-conscious guests looking for a place to stay and recharge. Along with the future-proof hardware, EVSE also provided their Exploren software, ensuring a comprehensive and advanced charging solution.

We make it easy to future-proof your retail destination

Make electric vehicles a part of your business’ future and help improve and position your business as a sustainability leader. Retail charging is hugely convenient for EV driving staff and sustainability is of ever-increasing importance to customers and drivers.

Findings in a recent MIT article support the creation of new funding models for charging stations, such as multiple businesses sharing the costs of construction so they can all benefit from additional consumer spending.

The study conducted found an increase of an average annual spending of 1.4%. This percentage translate to almost $23,000 in cumulative spending increases in 2019.

Get the Right Charger for Your Customers

Offering the right charging speeds is essential to ensure your EV chargers are a perfect fit for both your customers and your location. Keep in mind that the more powerful a charging station is, the higher the installation cost will be. However, more powerful chargers are also likely to be more popular with customers.

EV Charging for Retail & Hospitality: Turn Your Carpark Into a Revenue Asset

The guests arriving at your property today are driving EVs at a rate your carpark infrastructure wasn’t designed for. By 2027, one in five new vehicles sold in Australia will be battery electric. Your carpark either has a plan for that or it doesn’t.

EVSE installs managed EV charging infrastructure for hotels, resorts, shopping centres, and retail destinations across Australia, systems that go beyond basic amenity charging to generate measurable revenue, integrate with property management systems, and scale as EV ownership in your customer base grows.

Why Hospitality and Retail EV Charging Is Different

A hotel guest who plugs in at 3pm and checks out at 10am needs a different charging solution from a service station user spending 15 minutes on the forecourt. Retail carpark charging during a 2-hour shopping visit has different requirements again. Getting the hardware and management system right for your specific dwell time and customer profile is what determines whether the installation generates value or just costs money.

EVSE’s hospitality and retail installations are designed around four operational requirements:

  • Metered, billable charging, every kWh delivered is measured and attributable, so you can choose whether to offer complimentary charging, charge at cost, or price at market rates
  • PMS integration, for hotel properties, energy charges post automatically to the guest folio at checkout through your Property Management System
  • Non-guest access, your carpark generates charging revenue from non-guests during low-occupancy periods through app-based or RFID payment
  • Load management, the system allocates available electrical capacity across all chargers dynamically, so peak demand never exceeds your site’s supply without tripping the switchboard

The Revenue Case

A hotel with 20 charging positions running at 60% average utilisation, charging guests at $0.45/kWh, generates approximately $49,000 in gross charging revenue per year from guest sessions alone. Add non-guest access during off-peak periods and the gross revenue exceeds $65,000 annually. Against an infrastructure investment of $90,000 to $140,000, the payback period is two and a half to four years, with compounding returns as EV ownership in your guest demographic continues to grow.

For shopping centres and retail destinations, the calculation is different but the direction is the same. Shoppers who stop to charge stay longer and spend more. Research from overseas markets consistently shows that EV charging availability increases average dwell time by 20 to 35 minutes per visit, which converts directly into increased F&B, retail, and entertainment spend.

What EVSE Installs for Retail & Hospitality

50kW DC Fast Chargers Suited to guests needing a rapid top-up. Delivers approximately 50km of range in 15 minutes.
OCPP-Compliant Management Provides full remote visibility, session billing, PMS integration and load management from a single platform.
Payment Systems Supports app-based payments for casual users, RFID cards for regular commercial users and PMS posting for hotel guests.

Case Studies

Marriott Properties, Australia

EVSE installed metered, managed EV charging across multiple Marriott properties in Australia, with full PMS integration for automatic folio posting. The installation was specified to support both complimentary and paid charging models, giving each property the flexibility to adapt its commercial approach as the market evolved.

Peninsula Hot Springs, Victoria

Peninsula Hot Springs’ destination visitor profile, high proportion of EV-driving clientele, extended dwell times of three to five hours, made it an ideal application for managed AC charging. EVSE’s installation provides guests with reliable, metered charging throughout their visit, with utilisation rates consistently above the hospitality sector average.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can charge for it, and most EVSE clients eventually do. Our hardware is metered and OCPP-compliant, which means you can start complimentary, add a fee structure later, or run a hybrid model (e.g. complimentary up to 20kWh, paid beyond that) without replacing any hardware.
EVSE's management platform integrates with major hospitality PMS platforms including Opera, Protel, and Mews. Charging sessions are matched to guest reservations and charges post automatically to the room folio. Setup requires a one-time integration during installation commissioning.
The right number depends on your property's EV mix in your existing guest base, your carpark capacity, and your electrical infrastructure. As a starting point, EVSE typically recommends 8 to 15% of total carpark spaces for initial installations, with infrastructure designed to support expansion to 30 to 40% as demand grows.
EVSE's commercial installation team works in stages to minimise operational disruption. Civil works, cable trenching, conduit installation, are scheduled around peak occupancy periods. Most installations are completed with no closure of carpark sections for more than 48 hours at a time.
