Do I Need a Charger Specific to My EV Brand

Featured Image

You do not need a charger that is specific to your EV brand. Almost all EVs sold in Australia use the Type 2 charging standard, which means any universal Type 2 wall charger will work with your vehicle. EVSE chargers including the Ocular IQ Home Solar and Ocular LTE models are fully compatible with all Type 2 EVs such as Tesla, BYD, MG, Hyundai, Geely and Kia and all brands.

  • Universal compatibility with all Type 2 EVs.
  • No brand locked chargers are required.
  • Safe for Australian power standards.
  • Works with single or three phase supply homes.

Why brand specific chargers are not required?

Australia has adopted Type 2 as the national AC connector standard. This means all EV models must support Type 2 for AC charging. Universal chargers from EVSE follow this standard and can charge any EV safely.
Key reasons:

  • National Type 2 requirement.
  • Universal chargers follow the same standard.
  • EV onboard chargers manage power safely.
