Why Has the NSW Government Introduced Home Energy Saver?
Many energy-efficient home upgrades can significantly reduce electricity bills, but the initial installation costs can be a barrier for many households.
The Home Energy Saver program has been introduced to help eligible NSW residents:

FUNDING BREAKDOWN
Two Ways to Save
The Home Energy Saver Program offers two types of financial assistance depending on your eligibility.
Zero-Interest Loan
Application are open now for eligible homeowners and landlords.
- Borrow up to $15,000
- 0% interest
- Repay over up to 10 years
- Available for a range of eligible energy-efficient upgrades, including Level 2 EV chargers
Upfront discount
Discount application will open soon for eligible households.
- Receive up to $4,000 towards eligible upgrades
- Available for lower-income households and eligible concession card holders
- Can be combined with the zero-interest loan where eligible
If you’re eligible for both, the NSW Government recommends applying for the discount first before financing the remaining balance through the loan.

- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Have a combined annual taxable household income less than $210,000
