All stations will be powered by renewable energy, and many include on-site solar and battery storage systems
Stations are accessible to all battery EVs in the Australian market
As a key action under the NSW Electric Vehicle Strategy, investment in fast charging stations will stimulate the growth of the EV market by
- Overcoming range anxiety through the development of a broad, visible and accessible fast charging network across NSW
- Ensuring connectivity between metropolitan and regional areas
- Future-proofing the EV charging network beyond 2030
- Co-funding private industry to build, own and operate the charging stations
- Maximising grid support
- Reduce emissions and accelerating our transition to net zero
Round 3 now open
- Round 3 aims to support charge point operators (CPOs) construct fast charging stations across the regional and metropolitan NSW.
- Adjustment have been made to the co-funding caps to encourage further development of charging stations in regional NSW.
- $54 million is now available across 140 new charging zones.
- The funding is split across four distinct funding streams with different funding caps and requirements. These streams are:
- standard metropolitan
- fast track
- standard regional
- remote regional
All charging stations funded throughout round 3 will be constructed over an 18-24 month time period.
NSW needs site hosts for public EV fast charging
The NSW Government are currently seeking land owners, and lease holders interested in hosting EV charging stations, and asking them to provide a list of potential sites for potential developers. If interested you can complete an online expression of interest form.
Application Process
The Round 3 EV fast charging grant guidelines provide an outline to application who wish to apply. It is suggested application read this as well as the frequently asked questions page.
All applicants must use the Department’s nominated online grant management system (GMS), SmartyGrants, to submit their bid including all relevant documentation.
