The initial plug-in hybrid (PHEV) utility vehicle in Australia will launch with a braked towing capacity of 2500kg but in 2026 will have an upgrade to 3500 kg

Australia’s love to tow boats, caravans and everything in between. It’s hoped this increase in towing capacity will put a lower strain on the vehicle and allow it to improve it’s utility to match that of it’s traditional rivals.

Electric motors can handle heavy loads. They produce their torque almost instantaneously and from when the motor first starts spinning, whereas an internal combustion engine needs to build up speed before it’s producing its maximum.
