EV Charging in Sydney- Where to go for a Charge

Featured Image

Currently, Sydney has 251 publically available electric car charging stations. Out of these 251 we see there are 146 high powered charging stations that deliver faster charging times, allowing you to get back on the road in no time.

The 3 largest electric car charging station networks currently in operation are:

Exploren With over 100 AC charging stations across Sydney, Exploren operates the largest EV charging network in the Sydney region on PlugShare. Ther stations are equipped with Type 2 plugs, the industry standard in Australian and Europe, making them compatible with most electric vehicles.

Chargefox – Coming in as a close second, Chargefox manages 96 charging stations in Sydney, according to PlugShare. While slightly fewer in number than Exploren, Charefox offers more high-powered chargers, including 12 fast-charging stations. Users can easily access the service by downloading the Chargefox app from the App store or Google Play.

Jolt – Though smaller, with 43 charging stations in Sydney, Jolt offers a unique advantage: its stations include advertising spaces, providing an extra revenue stream for owners. Jolt chargers support CCS2 and CHADeMO plugs, catering to a variety of electric vehicles.

Non network charging stations

Plug share publishes charging station information from across Sydney and Australia allowing you to easily find a charging station across Sydney. EV infrastructure is far from complete and expanding rapidly with both AC and DC system being installed. Electric cars represent the biggest change in the automotive industry in 100 years and therefore a shift in driver behaviour and the way we “fill up” is necessary to take advantage of a cleaner future.
